Alexander the Great’s effect on modern times is kind of noteworthy given that he died when he was just 32 years of age. He is cited as the most successful army leader in history and there’s no record of his being defeated in battle. Such was his standing, when he bought the farm in Babylon ; his body was placed in a gold sarcophagus. The sweep of his victories was classic and fans of army history still look at the many battles that he was concerned in.
Many cities were named after the king, including Alexandria in Egypt and Alexandria on the Indus in Pakistan. The hero was played by William Shatner, famous for his role as Captain Kirk in Star Trek. The film also starred John Cassavetes, Hollywood vet Joseph Cotton, and Adam West, who had climbed out of his Batman suit. The tale of the army leader has been taken up by different cultures. Alexander Senki is a Eastern made anime version, broadcast as a Television series in 1997.
Two feature films on Alexander the Great were made in India, in 1941 and 1965. An Italian cartoon of the tale came out in 2006.
A powerful cast was chosen for the 1956 film, Alexander the Great with Richard Burton in the leading role. He was joined by Fredric March, Claire Bloom and Peter Cushing. Simply titled Alexander, it starred Colin Farrell as the eponymous hero. Video games are also suited to traditional battles and stories of conquests.
